I am already in love with this piece. While my sweet bride has liked every painting i've done except one I find that I am a much tougher critic of my own work. But this painting makes me happy.
It is 30x40 acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas and is ready to be hung. It is nearly impossible to describe here the texture that is visible in the background or how thick the paint is layered on certain parts of the deer but both of those things combined make the painting so much more interesting in person. I call the piece "Boundaries" because the deer is clearly leaping over one that had been set by someone else. I debated with myself long and hard on whether or not to add in a barbed wire fence but in the end felt it would take away from the deer.
In the last photo posted you have an opportunity to see what he looked like after the first day of painting when I had only put in the foundation colors. I know this piece will be a conversation starter in your home and I'm sure you will never tire of it.
